Kennedy Assassination Site, Dallas

You can walk through Dealey Plaza, which is pretty unchanged to this day, stand on the famous "grassy knoll" where so many witnesses thought they saw shots fired, and climb up to the sixth floor of the then-Texas School Book depository and stand in the window where Oswald was said to have fired the fatal (and only) shots, according to the Official Version.

I've never done this walk but have had Dallas friends drive me through Dealey Plaza and point out the landmarks with weird pride of ownership. It is a jolt to realize you, yourself are passing through perhaps the most scrutinized, oft-depicted public space in American history... and the exact point in the roadway where JFK took the fatal bullet.

A big pivot point for US and perhaps world history, for certain...
