Tiger Leaping Gorge
Key information: Tiger Leaping Gorge 
- The Yangtze has created a mighty gorge where it roars out of the mountains of the Tibetan fringe, so narrow that it is said a tiger leapt over the river.
- A spectacular old drove track meanders around the precipices of the northern wall of the gorge. From here, logs in the river look like matchsticks distant ones. Across the river, the icy peaks of the Jade Dragon Mountains soar thousands of metres above.
- Sadly (only in China!) a road has been blasted through the lower cliffs, draining a measure of mystique from the gorge. But you may still meet herders driving their dark little goats press yourself against the inside wall, don't hover on the brink.
