  • Dramatic and lonely cliff-girt landmark peak in Tasmania's south-western wilderness.
  • A highly esteemed but tough 3- day walk on at times poor paths through beautiful and varied forest, across wet plains - deep mud in places - and up to this peculiarly shaped peak glowering above vast cliffs.
  • Fantastic views over pristine emptiness from high up, but much of the time is in forest and valley.
  • Demanding walking in remote and often stormy mountains. Come fully prepared. Limited hut accommodation, camping is the more usual option.

In 2013 a major re-route of the track was largely completed. This bypasses the boggiest sections of the track - the infamous "Sodden Loddons" - and improves the overall experience considerably. Other track and hut improvements are continuing, and will make this a very appealing walk in a magnificent wilderness area. However it is still a difficult walk due to its remoteness, and the steep and rugged terrain.

In 2013 a re-route of the track was substantially completed. This bypasses the muddiest section of the track - the notorious "Sodden Loddons" - and greatly improves the whole experience. Further improvements on the track and huts are helping to make this is an even better walk in a truly rugged wilderness area. However it remains a hard walk, with some steep and rough sections.
