WALK SUMMARY

Climbing this fantastic crater is a must if in the Awash NP. Climb for some 3 hrs, through interesting dry scrub, up the flank of this once-enormous volcano, to the high (2,000m) rim of this huge caldera (collapsed volcano) for huge and thrilling views. A remote walk in magnificent landscape.

Steam still spurts from vents in its floor.

A long day-trip from Addis Ababa – or, better, part of longer time spent in the bird-rich Awash NP, or exploring the country’s wild east.

www.tourdust.com organise Ethiopia expeditions, including walking here. We had a wonderful time with them, with a well planned and supported journey. We are proud to be their partners.
