Key information: Black Canyon Trail

  • Follow this trail over open meadows (full of wildflowers during mid-summer), before dropping deep into the spectacular Black canyon of the huge Yellowstone river.

  • Odd geological formations and the evidence of past hot springs add interest to the hike.
  • This is a remote walk, on which you will have to be self sufficient and where bears can cause real problems. Come prepared.
