Walkopedia friend Charles Bookman says:

“We hired a van and driver for the day. For about US$100, the driver took us an hour above Huaraz and waited six hours for us at the trailhead. The climb up to Laguna Churup is much steeper and longer than the Wilcacocha hike, and involves a few simple scrambling moves (hands needed). The reward is a magnificent lake tucked into the base of dramatic Nevada Churup. This hike took us over 4,300m (over 14,000ft), excellent preparation for the coming trek.”

(Thank you, Charles!)
