Mt Yarigatake and others in Japan – I did a two day walk, staying overnight in the Yarigatake Hut and climbing 3180m Yarigatake as well as other mountains along than chain, including, I think, Okuhodaka and Kitohodaka. You can start in Kamicochi, which has a train railhead and an outpost of the Imperial Hotel! I went in late autumn so got the colours too. The view of Mt Fuji is spectacular once you climb to the top of the ridge out of Kamicochi and it just gets better. Walk is strenuous with fixed ladders and chains. No idea how long it was as I was younger then and didn’t care! Met no other English speaking people and was adopted by the locals.
